Outa' The Rain

As we had our morning meeting today, it was still raining and we had heard it on our roof all night long.  Made for some good sleeping, but kinda damp as we unhooked from the utilities and prepared to hit the trail again!  But we made it, and once again, lined up on the highway and rolled on down the road!!

It wasn't too long before the clouds disappeared, and the beautiful sun started beaming down on us!  Even for a 'holiday weekend', traffic has not been outlandish, and we've covered lots of territory since we left home!

We stopped for fuel again in Rock Port Missouri and stretched our legs.  We really haven't noticed any huge gasoline prices, and this area has regular going for $3.72 a gallon.  The look on people's faces when 4 rigs pull into a lot together and up to the pumps, is funny.  It's like they are saying to themselves, "Let me hurry up and get out of the way."  :-)

We traveled on down the road, and as we crossed into Iowa, there were fields upon fields of black-eyed susans!  Beautiful yellow flowers bobbing their heads in the breeze, as if to say welcome to Iowa.  We also saw signs, here and there, to remind us that farmers feed the country.  Even with some of the fields dry from no rain in this area, we had to be grateful and mindful of the contribution the farmers give us everyday.  We are so blessed to have people who toil the land, work from daylight to dark, to get food to market, so we can all have food on our tables!  Beautiful territory in it's own way!

Our stop for the night is Council Bluffs Iowa, and we just HAD to stop at the Horseshoe Casino, and how lucky we are that they had an RV park, that we could have those wonderful things called electricity and water to help us in our stay!    We found an area that had some sites all together, and we were able to back into every other spot so, boy, do we ever have elbow room!!  We got all set up, got our site numbers and headed to the RV registration to give them our money for our stay.

The guys were all talking and getting their thoughts together, and since the Casino was right across the parking lot from us, the 3 of us women, thought we'd walk over to see what all was going on.  You know, we just wanted to check it out!!!!!!  Just love the sounds and sights inside those doors!!   The 3 of us walked around just checking out the machines. Judy won on her first try, cashed in her win ($33) and headed back to the rig!  Her gambling career over!  As Brenda & Linda settled in on a group of machines, the one that Linda was at decided that this was going to be her lucky day!  She put in a $20, hit the button a couple of times.  Then, she leaned over and said, "I've got a hundred dollars, no two, Brenda, I have four!!!   She ended up with $407.25 in winnings!!!   Way to go, Linda!!!   We laughed and said at least that was a couple tanks of gasoline!!!  Brenda played on, and at one time hit for $113, but ended up putting it all back into other machines.  The casino also has a dog track, so we walked over and watched 2 of the dog races.  Some of the people that was there watching, really take the dog racing seriously!!  So in our own way, each of us had our little bit of fun!  We all came back to the rigs to the reality of life, and we did laundry!

With that out of the way, we all had dinner, and had our 'meeting' to plan out our next days travels!
We all settled in for a good nights sleep, dreaming of adventures the road!

Next stop - Mitchell South Dakota!!!
